Ultimate NL Athletes Medal at the Pan American Ultimate Championships

Two Newfoundland ultimate players, Nick House and Ryan Gaudon, helped Dead Circus secure a bronze medal at last week’s Pan American Ultimate Championships. The team earned third place with a 15–11 win over Canadian rivals AFC Carbon, a game that saw House deliver the go-ahead assist along with a goal, and Gaudon add a goal of his own.
Dead Circus faced strong competition from across the region, taking on teams from the United States, Canada, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic before claiming their place on the podium. Medaling at the Pan American Ultimate Championships is a major achievement for any Canadian program and marks a standout result in the club’s history.
For Gaudon, the event represented several firsts, including his debut as a Masters-age athlete, his first international tournament, and his first outing with Dead Circus. “Competing in my first Ultimate Masters and international tournament was a massive career milestone and opportunity, bringing home a bronze medal after scoring a break to secure halftime—cementing Halifax Dead Circus as the top Canadian team—felt like the perfect script and an unforgettable, defining experience,” said Ryan.
House, meanwhile, is in his third season with the team. This was his second appearance at the Pan American Championships and his first time medaling at the event. He already holds a full set of medals from the Canadian Masters Ultimate Championships including a gold medal in 2024 and will represent Dead Circus again this summer at the World Masters Ultimate Club Championships in Nottingham, United Kingdom. “Medaling at Pan Ams was a great moment for our team, and it gives me real momentum heading into Worlds. I’m proud to bring that experience back to Regiment as we keep building elite ultimate in Newfoundland.”
Dead Circus’ bronze finish highlights the strength of Atlantic Canadian ultimate on the international stage and showcases the continued impact of Newfoundland athletes within the sport.

Congratulations Nick, Ryan, and Dead Circus!
