St. John’s Leagues Merger

merger

Board members of the Men’s Avalon Ultimate League (MAUL), Mile Zero Ultimate (MZU), and the St. John’s Women’s Ultimate Recreational League (SWURL) are continuing talks on an eventual merger of the three leagues. The meetings to date have gone well, and the boards intend to make a presentation to members later this winter on the progress of the talks and the nuts and bolts of the merger.

One of the main reasons for the merger is that the existing leagues all have their own, fairly large, independent boards. By consolidating into a single league that offers what the three existing leagues offer, there will be less redundancies in volunteer efforts in St. John’s’ Ultimate community, which will allow the league to better serve its members.

In advance of the next meeting of the boards in January, MAUL, MZU, and SWURL encourage anyone in the ultimate community with a question or concern to please bring it to their attention. The leagues will answer questions at the public meeting of course, but they feel it will be beneficial to have an understanding of members’ concerns or suggestions prior to preparing a public statement.

Any member with an inquiry or suggestion can email a board member of any of the respective leagues, or can email Alex Bill, a de facto mediator for the talks, at alex.robert.bill@gmail.com.
