Ultimate Mini Clinic in Labrador
Ultimate in Labrador…. CHECK! Let’s grow this sport! #frisbeeTakeOver
“We had so much fun teaching kids to love #ultimate at Innu camp! Excited to share more about the week, thanks Ultimate Newfoundland and Labrador for the donation! ☺️ #ruralmedicine #exerciseismedicine”
From Kerri-Lynn Williams: “As part of my Rural Family Medicine clerkship rotation, I attended this year’s Innu Camp at Gull Island. About 230 Labrador tents housed about 1000 people of all ages at the traditional gathering, and one of our goals for the week was to engage the youth in physical activity. We put off three ultimate clinics and scrimmages over three days, with over 100 players – the majority between the ages of 3 and 30 – participating! Throughout the week it was great to see the kids playing ultimate outside of our scrimmages. Everyone enjoyed the throwing drills, but they were eager to get playing. If I were to do it again, I think I would try to separate out the age groups a little bit better, and try to get more of a word out among the youth. We’d like to send a huge thanks to UNL for the support; we would not have been able to attract so many youth to the game without it. Here are a few pictures of the camp and the games!”
