Holy Heart of Mary wins first SSNL outdoor ultimate regional

It was an all Holy Heart of Mary Highlanders final on Thursday evening, where HHM2 defeated HHM1 by a score of 12-11 to win the first School Sport NL outdoor ultimate regional championship. The sport was added to the School Sport NL foundation sport list this September. Peter Dormody and Adrienne Macgowan were named the male and female matching finals MVPs.

St. Bonaventure’s College was awarded the banner for most spirited team, while Holy Heart’s Adam Dunn was named the tournaments most spirited player. Adrienne Macgowan was named the overall tournament MVP.

Eight teams took part in the tournament, including Holy Heart of Mary 1 and 2, Gonzaga High, Holy Spirit High, Queen Elizabeth II, St. Bonaventure’s College, Waterford Valley High, and Holy Trinity High. It was Holy Trinity’s first time entering an ultimate tournament, and the secured their first win in pool play on Sunday.
