2025 Ultimate NL Annual Award Recipients Honoured

We celebrated excellence across the UNL community! The spirit of excellence, leadership, and community was on full display as Ultimate NL proudly celebrated its 2025 Annual Award recipients during its annual UNL Volunteer and Awards Appreciation Celebration on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Alt Hotel.

The event brought together athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters to recognize the individuals who made a lasting impact on the sport over the past year.

“Our community of dedicated athletes and volunteers stepped up to take on and create high level ultimate opportunities throughout 2025. The nominations for our annual awards reflected these efforts and each nominee was well deserving of recognition. Thank you to the great efforts of my fellow board members and volunteers for helping put on the UNL Gala, especially Ava Whitten, Lana Roestenberg, and Cameron Penney. The evening could not have happened without them. Congratulations to all award winners, we are looking forward to a great 2026 of ultimate!”

The UNL awards recognize not only the athletic excellence of those in the ultimate community, but also their leadership within the sport. This year’s recipients represent the very best of Ultimate NL – the exceptional individuals in our community because their skills, knowledge, and passion for the sport are so invaluable.

Eight of the nine awards were given at the discretion of the awards committee this year. The awards recognize achievements in the 2024 calendar year.

The recipients presented with awards are:

  • Junior Female Athlete of the Year Award: Sarah Dodd

  • Justin Frampton Spirit of the Game Award: Rachel Tobin & Ava Whitten
  • Female Athlete of the Year Award: Morgan Hull
  • Male Athlete of the Year Award: Joseph Hong
  • Joe Coady Award: Jason Murphy
  • Kristine Cadigan Award: Maria Dodd
  • Coach of the Year: Kathleen Sullivan & Hilary Walsh

Each recipient was presented with their award during the ceremony, met with applause and appreciation from their and the broader Ultimate community, including Rob Langridge, President of Ultimate Canada, who attend the Awards ceremony for the first time.

Congratulations to all the 2025 award winners. Their contributions to UNL inspire us all.
