2023 Ultimate NL annual award recipients
Ultimate Newfoundland and Labrador is thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2023 Ultimate NL Awards. The awards were presented during an Awards and Volunteer Appreciation Celebration Gala on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Alt Hotel.
“On behalf of the board of directors of Ultimate Newfoundland and Labrador I have the pleasure of congratulating the elite athletes, dedicated coaches, and passionate volunteers of 2023,” said Cameron Penney, Community Outreach Director for Ultimate NL. “The awards are a testament to the strong sense of community we have and each of the recipients inspire us with their successes today, and leave us excited to see what is yet to come as they continue to help build the ultimate community in the province.”
Every year Ultimate NL honours the exceptional individuals in our community because their skills, knowledge, and passion for the sport are so invaluable. The awards recognize not only the athletic excellence of those in the ultimate community, but also their leadership within the sport.
Eight of the nine awards were given at the discretion of the awards committee this year. The awards recognize achievements in the 2023 calendar year. The recipients are:
- Junior Male Athlete of the Year Award: Peter Dormody
- Junior Female Athlete of the Year Award: Maria Dodd
- Justin Frampton Spirit of the Game Award: Julian Costigan
- Female Athlete of the Year Award: Gracie Beattie
- Male Athlete of the Year Award: Nick House
- Joe Coady Award: Melissa Wheeler
- Kristine Cadigan Award: Hilary Walsh
- Coach of the Year: Craig Stoyles
